World Tiers in Diablo 4 Explained; Difficulty Level Settings
In Diablo IV, we will be able to increase the challenge level and find better loot - as long as we defeat a powerful boss.
Another day brings the next part of IGN's interview with the developers of Diablo IV. This time Blizzard Entertainment focused on the new World Tiers and a useful feature related to legendary items.
Legendary transfer
In previous video Joe Shelly (director of the fourth Diablo) and Rod Fergusson (the brand's general manager) discussed the skill tree, which - according to the developers' intention - is to be one of the mechanics providing players with great freedom when personalizing the character.
This will also be helped by the option to transfer the power of legendary items to other pieces of equipment. Thanks to it, players will still be able to use useful effects, even if they find them in the wrong part of armor, weapons, etc.
Guardians of world (tiers)
The world tiers will work on a similar basis to the Torment levels in Diablo III, although with some differences. In the beginning D4 will enable the players to choose between two difficulty levels, the first of which - referred to as "Adventure" - will be aimed at newcomers and those wishing to focus on learning the story.
The next will be unlocked when the player's character reaches level 50. However, only the third one will be available right away, because at the end of this adventure we will have to face a World Boss.
Only after beating it will we be able to increase the difficulty again - and this will be the case at the end of each "World Tier". Of course, subsequent bosses will be increasingly powerful, and the last one is expected to prove particularly challenging. If we defeat him, we will unlock - as Fergusson put it - "the end of the endgame."
Loot and progress
World Tiers should also be of interest to collectors. Only in the higher World Tiers will we find Sacred and Ancestral equipment. Shelly also mentioned completely unique types of loot that can't be found any other way.
All of this is meant to encourage players to keep playing, on the one hand presenting them with new challenges when the fight becomes too easy, and on the other encouraging them with better and better loot.
The world bosses will, so to speak, be a test for players, and defeating such a "gatekeeper" is supposed to enable the player to feel that they have really progressed and become more powerful, in a tangible and satisfying way. And, of course, giving them the next target in the form of the next World Boss.
Diablo IV will debut in 2023, possibly as early as the first few months, if recent rumors are to be believed. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
