For some, the end of December means New Year's Eve and the upcoming New Year. For others - the anniversary of the release of the first Diablo. Blizzard reminds us about the latter by announcing the return of the Darkening of Tristram event in Diablo III on December 31 at 4 p.m. PT.

True to the name, the event will enable us to once again face the hellish horror of the Tristram Cathedral. Players will literally go back in time to explore the 16 levels of catacombs known to fans from the first game, where they will encounter familiar monsters, equipment and finally face the Dark Lord. All this on the engine of Diablo III.

We will get access to these attractions if we complete a series of tasks related to cultists and find clues that will lead us to the time portal. The portal will remain closed until January 3 at 4 p.m. PT. The rewards for the activities performed during the event will be pets, portraits, unique transmog patterns, and other valuable acquisitions.

Darkening of Tristram will be available until January 31 at 4 p.m. PT.
