Developers of TikTok Will Develop Their Own Smartphones
ByteDance, the company behind the popular TikTok app, announced that it is planning to create its own smartphone. The device will be developed in cooperation with Smartisan Technology.
Reuters agency reports that Chinese company Bytedance - authors of a popular video sharing application TikTok - is planning to create its own smartphone. The device will be developed in cooperation with Smartisan Technology (also from the People's Republic of China), which was working on it before the signing of the agreement.
“The product was a continuation of earlier Smartisan plans, aiming to satisfy the needs of the old Smartisan user base,” said ByteDance spokesperson.
The product is likely to be available only in the People's Republic of China - at least initially. The device may be part of ByteDance's wider plans to create a social network for sharing video content. The phone could help promote this solution.
Unfortunately, so far, we do not know what specifications of the device - it is difficult to say whether it will offer something that will make it attractive for users. Given the saturation of the market, this may be a considerable challenge, but Chinese companies such as Xiaomi, Huawei and OnePlus have already shown that they are able to successfully compete with Korean and American competitors. Perhaps it will be similar in the case of ByteDance.
