Original message:
Finally, we received more concrete reports on Dead Island 2. The game's poduct card has appeared on Amazon along with a sizable set of information and screenshots. This is a brand new entry for the game, having nothing to do with those that were made available for pre-orders previously.
- According to Amazon Dead Island will be released on February 3, 2023.
- The game will hit PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
- The action will be set in Los Angeles, where most of the population will be infected with a virus that transforms people into zombies.
- There will be six playable characters to choose from. Each of them will have a unique personality and separate dialogue lines.
- The game will feature an extensive progression system enabling us to unlock a ton of different skills. At any time, we will be able to reset the choices we have made and reallocate the collected points.
- Dead Island 2 will have ys face dozens of types of zombies. Each of them are to have on unique attacks and mutations. On top of that, numerous clothing variants appear within a single species of zombies.
Of course, all this information should be approached with caution until it is officially confirmed by the publisher, Deep Silver. Most likely, however, someone at Amazon simply got ahead of themselves and posted a pre-order card for the game prematurely.
We are unlikely to have to wait long for confirmation of these details. It is speculated that the game will be re-revealed on August 23 during the opening presentation at this year's gamescom.
We write "re-revealed" because the game has had a particularly bumpy development cycle. Dead Island 2 was announced eight years ago and since then the developer of the project has changed twice. First, Yager Development was replaced by Sumo Digital, and then the project was taken over by Dambuster Studios, the team known for developing Homefront: The Revolution.
