DayZ Ice Map Coming; Fans Displeased with Frostline Price
DayZ: Frostline will hit gamers at the end of the year, although console owners should look forward to it the most.
DayZ will receive a new frosty expansion with a new map: Frostline. The Far Eastern archipelago of Sakhalin, with an area of 84 square kilometers, will open up to players, although it won't be a hospitable place.
Forgotten volcanic islands are set to be the most dangerous location DayZ players will visit so far. Late winter may offer beautiful icy landscapes, but surviving in this frosty land inhabited by new species of animals won't be easy. New diseases will also be introduced into the game, which the player's character can become infected with.
Life on Sakhalin will be made a bit easier by updated fishing mechanics and many other new gameplay elements. Of course, new winter cosmetic items will also appear.
Below we have posted a gameplay footage from DayZ: Frostline, which was published by the YouTuber Fresh Spawns.
Chilly reception to the announcement of the expansion
So far, players' enthusiasm for the announcement of DayZ: Frostline isn't great. Partly, it's because of the high price ($30), as well as the map itself. It resembles one of the previous locations, Namalsk, a bit too much.
However, some fans note that it is not accessible on consoles due to being a modded map. Besides, DayZ has no microtransactions, so DLC is the only way for the devs to make money.
Some players also don't trust the developers after the situation with Livonia, although - as we wrote previously - most DayZ fans still don't mind the decision of the developers from the Bohemia Interactive studio.
Furthermore, the grand announcement of Frostline seems a bit exaggerated, since the game expansion will only reach the hands of fans towards the end of the year.
