Darkest Dungeon 2 Not Coming to Steam Any Time Soon

Steam users will have to wait until next year for the release of Darkest Dungeon II. Early access will still only be available through Epic Games Store.

I have bad news for all players holding off on buying the roguelike Darkest Dungeon II until it will be available on Steam. According to the game's official card the title will debut on Steam only in February 2023 - this confirms previous information about the Steam release, made available by the developers.

For now, the title created by Red Hook Studios remains in the early access phase, and only Epic Games Store customers can purchase it. Everything indicates that it will remain so until the official release. This also means that the usual one-year exclusivity period for this platform will be exceeded in this case. Recall that the title went into early access on October 26, 2021 and rapidly became a success.

The first part Darkest Dungeon gained popularity thanks to (or in spite of) its high level of difficulty, as well as a dark, dense atmosphere. It is worth mentioning, however, that the work on this game and later expansions tired the developers, who did not want to duplicate the same schemes in the sequel. That is why they decided to introduce a number of changes in Darkest Dungeon II, refreshing the gameplay for example by switching to 3D graphics.
