Cyberpunk 2077 Devs Will Move to US to Oversee Work on Sequel
Pawel Sasko from CD Projekt Red has confirmed that Project Orion - the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 - will be developed by CDP Red North America. However, the foundation of the new team will be made up of developers from Poland - including Sasko.
CD Projekt Red announced yesterday the projects it will tackle in the future. Among them we find among others, Project Orion, intended to be a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. Responding to questions from excited Twitter users, Pawel Sasko - chief quest designer at CP2077 - confirmed that the game's development will be handled by the new Boston-based CDPR division, which will form CD Projekt Red North America together with the Vancouver team.
What is particularly important, however, the foundation of the American branch of the company is to be formed by developers from Poland - including Pawel Sasko.
Many people are surely asking themselves when we will learn more about Project Orion, not to mention when we will be able to play it. The answer is: not anytime soon. Pawel Sasko revealed that he will focus on the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 only after the release of Phantom Liberty - the story DLC scheduled for release in 2023. So one may be tempted to guess that the sequel will debut in the second half of the current decade.
As a reminder, let me add that CD Projekt Red is also planning to develop two other brands - The Witcher and Project Hadar, which is the first fully in-house venture by the company. You can read more about the future of both of them in our yesterday's news - here and here.
