Cyberpunk 2077 Becomes a Hit in China Even Without Official Launch

Although Cyberpunk 2077 hasn't been officially released in China, it is still very popular in the country, which is confirmed by the audience numbers of local streams.

Cyberpunk 2077 has become a big hit even in countries where the game has not been officially approved for release. The best proof of this is China. CD Projekt Red's game has appeared there through stores such as Steam, GOG, or Epic Store, and physical or console versions of the game are ordered by Chineses from other corners of the world, but at any time the users must be prepared for the digital stores closing and having to seek refuge through VPN. Daniel Ahmad, a video game industry analyst, shared some stats on Twitter, thanks to which we learned that China was the country where the highest number of pre-orders has been submitted for the PC version of the game.

One of the leading market information providers in Asia, Niko Partners, has also released another interesting statistic, which confirms the huge popularity of Cyberpunk 2077 in China. It is currently the second most watched game on Chinese streaming websites like Douyu, Huya and Bilibili. On the day of its release, the title was watched by 19 million viewers on over 7 thousand different channels.

So we have to admit that Cyberpunk 2077 managed to achieve success not only despite technological shortcomings, but with considerable market difficulties. However, they did not prevent the game from making such a large sum of money that CDPR has already started making money for future projects.
