CD Projekt RED surprised its fans by announcing and releasing update 2.2 for Cyberpunk 2077. From the information provided earlier, it appeared that the game's development had already been finished, so it was quite a surprise. Unfortunately, as is often the case, the update is incompatible with previously created mods, which may be a significant issue for many players. Fortunately, the studio prepared a solution for that.

Return to the older version

For those interested, there is an option to enable the beta version of the game on Steam, which will revert it to version 2.13, on which most mods work. The same option is also available on GOG. Importantly, the "downgrade" will only be possible until the end of January. Mod creators should update their projects by this time.

This option will please many players, as the mods for Cyberpunk 2077 are widely popular. On Nexus Mods, CD Projekt RED's game is the fifth most popular game, with over 13 thousand projects created for it. These projects have been downloaded over 511 million times in total. It's far from the result of Skyrim, but it still shows how eagerly players mod this title.

Developers say thank you

On the occasion of Cyberpunk 2077 celebrating its 4th anniversary, the developers expressed their gratitude to the players for the journey they shared, through a post on X.

Night City wouldn't be what it is without you, our community.

Thank you for sharing your unforgettable stories with us, for taking beautiful shots of the city and its people, for taking V for a ride or two, and for coming home after a dangerous gig.

Thank you for being part of this 4 years journey. Here's to another year in neon-lit NightCity full of surprises!

Pawel Sasko also added a few words, thanking for the support and pointing out that the path he had taken turned out to be completely different than he had initially expected. He admitted that it was difficult, but definitely worth undertaking and continuing.
