- The team from Paradox Interactive shared details about the content of Patch 1.3 for Crusader Kings III;
- One of the elements will be a real winter;
- There will also be map improvements.
The upcoming month should be quite exciting for fans of Crusader Kings III. Most likely on March 13 we'll receive an announcement of the first DLC for this last year's medieval strategy. As for now, the team at Paradox Interctive is not ready to go into details about the add-on. At the same time, another major update for the game, numbered 1.3, is set to launch. In its case, the Swedes are a bit more talkative. Recently on the official website of the Crusader Kings series they described two elements that will be included in it.
First and foremost, the upcoming update for Crusader Kings III will add something that the title has certainly lacked since its release, namely a true winter. In the months surrounding this time of year, the map (or at least the provinces located in the appropriate climate zone) will be covered with a layer of snow. The sounds will also change - singing birds and animals will become less distinct, and the sound of wind passing between the snowdrifts will become stronger. Most importantly, however, the arrival of the cold period will also have a significant impact on the gameplay.
In Crusader Kings III, winter will come in three different variants - mild, normal and severe. The first and second will occur commonly in Central and Southern Europe, while the third will occur in the far north and regions such as Mongolia and the Himalayas. The conditions in each province should be visible at a glance through an appropriate graphic effects.
Depending on how harsh the winter is at a given location, armies will lose supplies faster and thus mortality rates will increase, also during battles. Furthermore, some units, such as heavy cavalry, will be less effective in snow, while others, such as Tibetan warriors, will be just the opposite. You will have to plan your war campaigns a bit more strategically.
In addition, the map in Crusader Kings III will be slightly improved in the latest patch. Among others, a few new baronies will appear in Ireland and the Apennine Peninsula, especially in its southern part. This is supposed to improve the balance and comfort of playing in these regions.
More details about patch 1.3 for Crusader Kings III are expected to appear soon. Unfortunately, so far we don't know when it and the first DLC will be released.
