The legendary cow level may return in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred. At least that's what the latest discoveries by fans suggest.

The new season of Diablo IV is causing significant excitement, primarily because of the multitude of new features and a substantial story expansion. Blizzard Entertainment has already disclosed a wealth of information about themselves, including an extensive list of changes.

However, some gamers argue that the 6th season might also provide an answer to the puzzle that fans have been pondering since the 2nd season – where the secret Cow Level is located in the latest installment of the diabolical series.

Investigation report

The search for this iconic secret proved more difficult than in previous Diablo games. Nonetheless, players discovered that after killing 666 cows within a designated time (666, 666 seconds), they receive secret relics, depending on the location where they carried out the slaughter. One of them seems to be "in sync" with the legendary Horadric cube, which is strongly associated with the legend of the cow level.

Next, it's necessary to find the key that is supposed to open the Forlorn Hovel by dropping and picking up all three relics at the fountain in the town of Ked Bardu. Afterward, they should be placed under the three statues. After visiting the abandoned house (in the Scosglen location) and killing numerous cows, we will receive a Stamina Potion.

You will find further details in the Wowhead service article, which has compiled the discoveries of those seeking cow's secrets.

Secret keys or funny easter eggs?

This has been the most recent secret discovered, and players have not made significant progress in a long time. The upcoming opening of the Public Test Realm 2.0 (PTR 2.0) has given fans hope that the 6th season will be a success and finally solve the mystery of the Cow Level in Diablo 4 (via Wowhead / Discord channel "D4 – Not Finding a Cow Level.")

While the tests won't begin until tomorrow, the update files have unveiled unexpected new features aimed at D4. Among them is the Rusted Berdiche, which - we quote the description - "smells like manure." Just a reminder: the cow hordes of the secret level were armed with berdiches, and in Diablo 3 you could find the Bovine Berdiche, linked to a not-at-all-cow-related secret.

Moreover, the database of the fourth installment has been supplemented with four items related to quests, which openly refer to the objects needed to open the secret level in the third part.

The only question that arises is whether these extras are truly the solution to the cow puzzle in Diablo 4, or just casual Easter eggs? This second option would rather be a cruel joke, but it cannot be completely ruled out.

Players will try to uncover these and other secrets of the sixth season following the launch of Public Test Realm 2.0 on September 4, as well as after the beginning of the 6th season alongside the premiere of Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred on October 8.
