CoD MW2 Could Get a Campaign DLC Like in the Good Old Days

According to reports by Jason Schreier, the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 may get a paid DLC with a campaign next year. This would be a return to the roots of the series.

The release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will take place on October 28 (on PC, PS5, XSX/S, PS4 and XOne). More and more sources confirm that the game will get a DLC in 2023 - and perhaps not in the form of a multiplayer map pack, but a solid expansion with a campaign.

Known for the accuracy of his information, Jason Schreier commented on the subject, responding on Twitter to user @TheGhostOfHope, who was the first to report it.

"Next year they'll (Activision - ed. note.) be selling new stuff for MW2, an expansion or something like that (not sure exactly what it'll look like but it'll have campaign stuff too)."

A large, paid DLC would make sense, especially since according to Schreier, no new CoD will be released before 2024. The publisher thus probably wants to fill in this gap.

Tom Henderson, meanwhile, wrote on Insider Gaming, that Activision is indeed preparing some kind of "premium DLC," but so far has not confirmed whether it will include a campaign.

According to rumors (mainly reported by TheGhostOfHope) the DLC for MW2 is also expected to include a number of remastered multiplayer maps from previous games. If the above leak comes true, we will have a kind of CoD like in the days of the first installment (from 2003), which received the expansion called United Offensive.

It is also worth recalling that recently there were rumors that Activision was planning the second installment of Advanced Warfarefor 2025, but in this case informants disagree with each other and give conflicting information. More on this subject here.
