CDP RED is Working on Three Projects Related to Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt informed that it has three teams working on cyberpunk projects. Among them, apart from the group dealing with Cyberpunk 2077 itself, there is the Wroclaw branch of the company creating a multiplayer mode for the title.
The economic service of the Polish Press Agency published statements of CD Projekt Red's management board representatives, which contained a lot of interesting information about the company's plans.
We have learned that three cyberpunk projects are being developed. One of them is of course Cyberpunk 2077 itself. The other one - focusing on multiplayer mode for the aforementioned production - is being developed by a 40-person team in Wroclaw.
Vice President Piotr Nielubowicz added that the next big game of Project CD will also be set in the world of Cyberpunk. In addition, another "AAA class narrative game" is planned to be released by 2021. The statement was quite unclear, but it seems that these are two separate productions, because the company currently has five teams working in total - three are involved in cyberpunk projects, and one working on Gwent, so the fifth of them most likely is busy with the aforementioned AAA RPG.
In addition, CD Projekt is very satisfied with Cyberpunk 2077 pre-sales results. In this respect, the game performs much better than The Witcher 3, but the CEO of the company Adam Kicinski notes that at the start of the Wild Hunt pre-orders, the latter title was much less hyped, and on top of that, pre-sales of CP2077 has started just recently, so it is not known if the good results will continue.
The company expects that the share of the PC version in the sales of Cyberpunk 2077 will be lower than in the case of The Witcher 3. This is due to the fact that the database of console owners is now much larger than in 2015, and Geralt's adventures have traditionally been associated with PCs.
In addition, the company expects to increase the share of digital sales. In the case of The Witcher 3, this segment accounted for 30% of sold copies, while Cyberpunk 2077 will most likely find 40-50% of digital buyers. It was also informed that there are no plans to release more copies of the collector's edition, although it has already been sold out in most cases.
At Gamescom, the company intends to show the same thing as on E3, and at the end of August, a new gameplay will be made publicly available on PAX West. We should expect a flood of materials and information at the beginning of next year, because that's when journalists will receive playable versions of the project.
Cyberpunk 2077 is headed for PCs, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and will be released on April 16, next year.
