Borderlands Movie Featuring Actress From Star Wars: Battlefront 2
Janina Gavankar, the actress known from Star Wars: Battlefront 2, has joined the cast of the cinematic adaptation of Borderlands.
The cast of the movie adaptation of Borderlands is rapidly expanding. The producers have announced that actress Janina Gavankar has joined it, whom we will see in the role of Commander Knoxx. This is a new character created exclusively for the adaptation. She is the daughter of General Knoxx, one of the game's antagonists, who has followed in her father's footsteps by joining the Crimson Lance, Atlas Corporation's private army.
Janina Gavankar's credits include appearances in such films as The Way Back and Blindspotting. Gamers know her primarily from the role of Iden Versio, the main heroine of the story campaign in Star Wars: Battlefront II. The actress also provided her voice in such games as Far Cry 4 and Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Let's recall that in Borderlands we will see, among others, Kevin Hart as Roland, Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Jamie Lee Curtis, who will play Tannis and Florian Munteanu as Krieg. The robot Claptrap, in turn, will speak with the voice of Jack Black.
Shooting for Borderlands began earlier this month in Hungary. Fans have been waiting for this moment for a very long time. Plans to develop a screen adaptation were announced in August 2015, but after that the project went off the radar for a long time. Something started to happen only last year, when Eli Roth became the director, but then a pandemic broke out, which complicated the producers' plans.
It's worth mentioning that the film is set in an original rendition of the universe. The adaptation is supposed to be faithful to the games in terms of atmosphere and character personalities, but the events presented on the silver screen will not necessarily be the same as in Gearbox Software's games.
