Blizzard Is Developing New StarCraft Game. Former Far Cry Brand Leader Is in Charge of Shooter, Claims Jason Schreier
Up to three times a piece? That's what Blizzard studio must be thinking because according to credible rumors, it is once again attempting to develop a shooter in the StarCraft universe.
Something is finally starting to happen around the long-fallow StarCraft brand. Yesterday, Microsoft announced that both installments of the series will hit the Game Pass library in November. However, rumors surfaced at night about the development of a new shooting game set in this universe.
- The rumors are credible because their source is a very well-respected journalist, Jason Schreier.
- The Blizzard Entertainment studio is reportedly in the early stages of developing a shooter set in the universe of the StarCraft series, according to his information.
- The team working on this project is to be headed by Dan Hay, who until recently was the lead developer managing the entire Far Cry series.
It's worth mentioning that the first rumors about Blizzard's new shooter appeared last month. However, at that time we didn't know that it was a game set in the StarCraft universe, nor that Dan Hay was involved in the project.
Third time's a charm
This project will be Blizzard's third attempt at developing a game of this type. The first and most famous was StarCraft: Ghost, which was announced in 2002, but then cancelled. The second attempt was the Ares project, which was supposed to be heavily inspired by the Battlefield series. Work on it lasted from 2017 to 2019.
Hopefully, the third attempt to develop a shooter in the StarCraft universe will be the one that finally gets completed.
