Black Myth: Wukong major challenge for Xbox Series S. Devs have problem and they're not hiding it
The release of Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox consoles is still nothing certain. Director Feng Ji confirmed that the delay is due to technical problems with the Xbox Series S version.
Xbox players are still waiting for Black Myth: Wukong. We just learned the main reason for the delay of this version of the game.
Feng Ji, the game director of Black Myth: Wukong, stated on the Chinese social media site Weibo that the challenges are caused by the memory issues of Xbox Series S.
In his post, Feng Ji, also known as Yocar, wrote that the Xbox Series S only offers 10 GB of RAM, which is shared between the processor and the graphics card. This limitation is to be the main problem for the devs of Black Myth: Wukong.
10 GB shared memory is quite a challenge and without several years of optimization experience, it's really hard to handle it.
Earlier, there were rumors that the delay of Wukong's release on Xbox consoles was due to an exclusivity agreement with PlayStation. However, the game director's post clearly indicates technical problems associated with the Series S.
Black Myth: Wukong is an action RPG inspired by the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. The game impressed players with stunning graphics, dynamic battles, and an engaging storyline, reaching a record number on Steam - 2,415,714 players playing at the same time (via SteamDB). The game has gathered many positive reviews, won awards at the last The Game Awards, and recently also the title of "Game of the Year" on Steam.
Unfortunately, it is currently unknown when Xbox owners will be able to play Black Myth: Wukong. Game Science Studio continues to work on optimizing the game and promises to announce the release date as soon as the Microsoft console version meets its quality standards.
