Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness is a new isometric cRPG. The title was funded a few years ago on Kickstrarter and is strongly inspired by such productions as Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale or Pillars of Eternity. Today, developers from Austrian-Hungarian studio GrapeOcean Technologies revealed that the game will debut on August 26th in Steam's early access program. At the same time they published a trailer showing some gameplay footage.
Early access of Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness will offer three chapters of the story campaign and many of the side quests, which are still in development. In total this is to provide "dozens of hours" of fun. The release of the full version should be expected in the first quarter of next year. More about the developers' plans can be found in the official Q&A on Steam.
The game will offer a classic gameplay model. We control a party of many unique characters who join us during the adventure. Using the active pause, we give them orders, using many combat abilities and powerful spells, paying special attention to the position of enemies and allies on the board. The title will take us to an original dark fantasy world, in which we'll encounter, however, many extremely familiar elements, races and monsters.
Although during the game we'll follow a predefined storyline, players will have a lot of freedom in completing the main tasks and side missions. What's more, their decisions will enable them to reach several different endings of the story. One of the many optional attractions is the fortress building and crafting system, as well as the ability to care for animal companions. The developers predict that finishing the final version of the game will take between 30 and 60 hours. It is worth adding that the dialogues of the main characters will be fully voiced.
