BG3 - What Is the Maximum Level?
Baldur's Gate 3 recently received a major Patch 8. Here you'll find out what is the game's maximum level.
Baldur's Gate 3 has been in early access for almost two years. The developers are constantly developing the game and presenting the results of their work to gamers. In turn, they can test new characters, races and mechanics on an ongoing basis.
In one respect, however, the gameplay is very limited. The RPG in Early Access has a level cap. You can't level up your character more than what the developers have specified.
And what level is it exactly? Has the latest Patch 8 changed anything in this regard? Find out in the following text.
Baldur's Gate 3 - maximum level in early access
Developers from Larian Studios made the game available to gamers with a number of limitations. This is nothing surprising, since the game is in early access. These limits also apply to the level of our hero.
Since the game's debut, the highest level was four. Recently, however, the game has received a huge Patch 8, which introduced a whole bunch of new features and changes (including a new character class, you can read more about here) to Baldur's Gate 3. Unfortunately, they do not apply to the aforementioned level cap.
When starting BG3, you will still only be able to reach the maximum level, which is four. Many gamers speculate that this will not change until the full release of the game.
The fifth level in Dungeons & Dragons 5E rules used by the developers is associated with a radical increase in the power of the skills of individual character classes. These, in turn, may not be suitable for the parts of the game prepared by the developers.
However, only the developers know their true intentions. So, perhaps, in time, we will get the opportunity to advance our heroes to the fifth level before the game's release.
Baldur's Gate 3 - maximum level in final version
What maximum level can we expect once the game is released? The developers, unfortunately, did not openly reveal this secret, but they gave us a hint.
Sven Vincke, the creative director of Larian Studios, revealed during one of the Panel of Hell presentations that the maximum level will be higher than 10, but lower than 20. The developers had originally planned to introduce a level cap of 10, but testing led the developers to the conclusion that it should be increased.
Interestingly, it may seem like this conflicts with the rules of Dungeons & Dragons 5E. According to them, the maximum level of a character is 20.
However, the skills associated with the highest levels are probably too powerfulto translate them into a video game. This would simply spoil the gameplay experience.
Currently, therefore, players speculate that the level cap in the final version of Baldur's Gate 3 may be around level 13.
