Battlefield 7 in 2024, Tom Henderson Suggests
According to Tom Henderson, the next part of the Battlefield series will be released in 2024. In turn, the president of EA announced that the mobile installment may be released at the end of this year or early next year.
Well-known industry insider Tom Henderson analyzed yesterday's financial summary by Electronic Arts in his article posted on WhatIfGaming and linked some facts with the info from his anonymous sources. He claims that the next Battlefield will probably be released in 2024..
Where does this guess come from?
During the financial conference in August last year EA CEO Andrew Wilson announced that the company wants to continue to maintain the release cycle of Battlefield, which until now has consisted of releasing a new game every two years. Following in that footsteps, "Battlefield 7" (working title) would be released in late 2023.
- Henderson, however, claims that due to the poor condition of Battlefield 2042 that's not going to happen, as EA's DICE is currently focused on fixing the game rather than working on the next installment.
- Therefore, the informant bets on 2024, with which his anonymous sources agree.
- Taking into account the alleged lack of competition from Call of Duty in 2023, that would certainly be a big loss for EA..
What next for the series?
Henderson says that in recent days, the number of simultaneous players of Battlefield 2042 across all hardware platforms has not exceeded 10,000.
During yesterday's conference the question was asked whether the deteriorating state of the game has discouraged EA from continuing the development of the series, to which Wilson replied:
"No. We're just looking at it from a long-term perspective. This is one of the best brands in our industry, built by one of the most outstanding teams. We expect it to continue to grow and be an important part of our portfolio for many years to come (...)."
What's next for Battlefield 2042
Later in his response to the question, Wilson addressed the future of Battlefield 2042. From his words it can be inferred that once the fundamental aspects of the game are fixed, the developers will move on to creating new content - the first season, along with the Battle Pass, will be released in the second half of the year:
"(...) And once we reach a point where we feel like we're in the right place in terms of the game's fundamentals - then you can expect us to invest in the product and expand it beyond what it is today."
Mobile Battlefield and Season 1
The first season, along with the combat pass, should come to Battlefield 2042 in June. Also planned for this period are map updates.
- In addition, the game may soon come to Game Pass, where we can also play the previous parts of the series (in EA Play).
- In addition, during yesterday's financial meeting Wilson announced that Battlefield Mobile could debut late this year or early next year.
