Larian Plans PC and Console Crossplay for Baldur's Gate 3
Baldur's Gate 3 will receive crossplay in unspecified future. This information was confirmed by a high-ranking member of Larian Studios.
Appreciated and still very popular RPG Baldur's Gate 3, which came out today on PlayStation 5 - and a month earlier on PCs - will receive cross-play feature in the future.
This information was confirmed in an interview with Eurogamer by Michael Douse, i.e. publishing director of Larian Studios.
Douse admitted that the crossplay system in Baldur's Gate 3 had always been in the studio's plans, however, the priority was a smooth release of the title.
"It [Cross-play - ed.] was in the game's development plan and although we have a general idea of when we'd like to introduce it, we don't want to give a date until we're sure of it."
Importantly, crossplay will not bypass the Xbox Series X/S version either, which is currently in development and will be released between September and November this year.
It's worth mentioning that the latest Baldur in its current version - both on PS5 and PC - offers multiplayer co-op mode ("couch", i.e. on a split screen, or over the network) and cross-platform sign-ups.
And while the aforementioned features still don't work perfectly - especially local co-op on the PS5 - Larian Studios has been offering patches with admirable frequency, progressively fixing the game's ills.
