As announced today we saw the Panel from Hell broadcast dedicated to the upcoming Baldur's Gate 3. During the show we learned many new things about the full version of the game.
- Devs presented the character personalization menu - it has been changed from the early access version to make it more accessible to people who have not been familiar with other Larian games. In the game there will be many options for customizing the character's horns, hairstyle or posture.
- We saw two new races - half-orcs and dragonborn. In the case of the latter, an additional portion of personalization awaits us, as it is possible to change the color of their scales.
- We learned that in Baldur's Gate 3 - for the first time in the series - it is possible to reset character skills. This will enable us to experiment without having to start the game from the beginning.
- Devs presented one of the selectable background stories of the protagonist, called Dark Urge. Accordingly, we saw a gameplay fragment focusing on Gale's recruitment. However, he was not accepted into the party, but instead.... his arm was torn out. The developers amusingly commented on this by saying that the player would still be able to accept other companions.
- During the broadcast, it was emphasized that romances in Baldur's Gate 3 are not about performing specific tasks, as is often the case in RPGs. The love between our avatar and the chosen character will develop throughout the game; it may happen that the candidate(s) will reject the player's favor.
- In total, we witnessed two dates - the first with Karlach and the second with Halsin. It was the latter, intimate encounter with a druid in the form of a bear, that was intriguing - and very entertaining - and gave a taste of the romance possibilities we will be able to experience in the game.
- We saw gameplay fragments, showing play in co-op and split-screen modes. The developers first fought on normal difficulty level, and then on tactical (i.e. difficult). In the latter mode, you need to carefully plan your character's movements, as enemies have additional abilities, such as using flaming and explosive projectiles.
- In the game, it will be possible to interfere in the process of creating newspapers, which are later sold in the city. This is supposed to influence the residents' opinion of our party and character.
- The developers pointed out that 170 hours of video footage testifies to the size of the game and the ton of possibilities it will offer, rather than the horrendous length of the campaign - although it is expected to take a a lot of time.
- At the end of the broadcast, gameplay from the second act and two different story paths were presented - playing as both the "good" and "evil" protagonist. This segment is filled with spoilers.
It is worth mentioning that during today's event we saw the game's launch trailer (below).
Full version of Baldur's Gate 3 will be released on August 3 on PCs. PlayStation 5 console owners will have to wait until September 6.
