Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 4 Rolls Out With Over 1000 Changes and Fixes [Update: Hotfix]
The fourth major update has arrived for Baldur's Gate 3, which introduces, among other things, a mode for colorblind, as well as numerous minor improvements and fixes.
Update: Today Baldur's Gate 3 received an even tinier patch (hotfix) on PC, which fixed "a bug that prevented players from clicking on filtered abilities and items associated with equipped weapons."
Larian Studios continues to patch Baldur's Gate 3. After a slightly longer-than-usual hiatus, the developers from Belgium have provided the players with "patch number 4," which introduces to the hit game more than 1,000 changes - mostly fixes and minor improvements.
There are 2 most important new features in BG3, which hit the game today: accessibility mode for colorblind, and the ability to customize the appearance of mercenaries right after their recruitment.
Unfortunately, in the description of Patch 4. we will not find additional scenes for the game's epilogue, which Larian Studios announced already some time ago. I suspect that the extended culmination of the story will debut with the release of the game on Xbox Series X/S - which, according to the head of Larian is expected to happen later this year.
Baldur's Gate 3 - Patch 4
As the list of changes is long (although not as long as the previous update), I will list just a few fixes and changes that I think deserve a mention.
For the entire patch notes for Baldur's Gate 3 Update 4 - spoilers included - I refer you to to this address.
- The mechanics of the Speak to Dead spell have been updated so that it can be cast again if no questions were asked the first time. (e.g., if the deceased didn't want to talk to his killer, and then the player cast a spell that changes their appearance).
- A certain powerful boss from Act 3 can no longer be easily dropped from the arena, and thus killed.
- Combat rounds are now displayed under separate headings in the combat log, making it easier to distinguish at what point in the skirmish something occurred.
- Fixed the artificial intelligence of some enemies. Previously, it caused enemies to merely move instead of attacking us during their turn.
- A certain party will assist us in the final battle if we solve the vampiric plot in Act 3 to their favor.
- By acquiring a statue of our character from the circus, from now on we will choose whether it will resemble the player in the current panoply, camp costume or completely naked.
- Dark Urge can accuse someone else of murder in the first act.
- A bug that blocked progress in the quest with the clown Dribbles has been fixed.
- Jaheira will no longer leave the party so easily in Baldur's Gate.
- Improved performance in crowded areas.
- Fixed and optimized lighting in the Lower City in in Baldur's Gate.
The full version of Baldur's Gate 3 has been available to PC owners since August 3, and on September 6 they were joined by PlayStation 5 users. As of Patch 3, Larian Studios' game also provides macOS support.
