5 Things to Do Before the Release of Baldur's Gate 3 - Tips From Devs
Developers from Larian Studios explain in five simple steps what to do before the release of Baldur's Gate 3 later today. Some of the advice also applies to players who missed early access.
The release of the PC version of one of the most anticipated games of this year, Baldur's Gate 3, will take place today. As announced, developers from Larian have published guide, in which they explained in five steps how to prepare for the debut of this giant RPG. Here they are.
Firstly
As we reported yesterday in a separate news, the first step to take in order to enjoy the release of the third installment of Baldur's Gate in peace is deleting the save game data from early access.
Of course, this step applies only to those players who took the opportunity to test the incomplete version, which was released in the fall of 2020.
To delete the saves in full, you need to:
- launch Baldur's Gate 3;
- select the Load game option in the menu;
- after the window with records opens, select Delete campaign for all fields.
Secondly...
As you know, the full version of Baldur's Gate 3 will differ significantly from that of early access, so it is not enough to remove only the game saves. The second step in preparing for the new Baldur's Gate should be complete deletion of the old version of the game.
Here the matter is even simpler than in point number one. Locate the game in your Steam Library, then right-click on it and select Manage, then Uninstall.
Thirdly...
The third step is to getting rid of any mods. These, too, will not be compatible with version 1.0 of Baldur's Gate 3.
In this case, check the game's AppData folder and make sure it is empty. Those using mod installers such as Vortex Mod Manager should in turn see that modifications are also uninstalled in such dedicated programs - so that these do not automatically download them again when the RPG debuts.
Fourthly...
The fourth piece of advice from Larian is to install the game version 1.0 on an SSD drive, which is recommended for playing the latest Baldur, to ensure efficient data loading speed. Let me remind you that the game weighs a substantial 122 GB (full requirements can be found here)
And finally...
The final, fifth step in preparation for one of the most important RPG releases of this year should be to updating your GPU drivers to the latest version, which should provide a more comfortable gaming experience.
And that's it. Five easy, but very important steps to follow before we dive into the world of Forgotten Realms.
At the very end, I will point out that the PC version of Baldur's Gate 3 will be released today on GOG and Steam at 5 p.m. CET. On September 6 the game will also hit the PlayStation 5 console.
