Avowed's mushroom madness. Character customization has never been this fun
Fungal faces in Avowed are taking over the internet! As always, the community’s creations are next level.

Character customization in games has gotten so advanced that devs are constantly raising the bar with crazy detailed options. I spend countless hours perfecting my half-orc barbarian in Baldur’s Gate 3, making sure those beautifully protruding fangs paired just right with their cute pink ponytails. Every game has something interesting to offer when it comes to creating your character, and Avowed looks to be no exception, even when it’s a bit limited. All thanks to its crazy fungal feature, that most of us are absolutely in love with.
You’ve got something on your face, Envoy
When I said character creation is limited in Avowed, I meant there are only two races to choose from – human and elf. You can read more about this in a review. But even without a wide range of species, we can still create some fascinating facial aesthetics.
Players are now sharing their Avowed characters with distinctive mushroom-like faces. Some of them are real beauties, while others… well, let’s just say they’re a choice (like the one I stumbled upon on Reddit). But that’s the fun of it! I always look forward to seeing what people come up with, and as always, I’m never disappointed. Just take a look at the work of Wintersmith81, or RedAndBlackVelvet, absolutely gorgeous!
So yeah, if this doesn’t creep you out, go ahead and try out Avowed’s shroomy, moss-covered character creation options. With over 9,000 concurrent players on Steam (while still in early access), player feedback and OpenCritic ratings are making one thing clear - we’ve got a solid RPG from Obsidian this year. They’ve even added extra options to customize FPP settings and built a world that’s genuinely engaging and worth exploring. And if you ever feel lost in the Living Lands, interactive maps and guide for Avowed will definitely come in handy.
