More Waiting for Avowed; Obsidian's RPG Won't Launch in H1 2024 (Leak)
According to a reliable source, we'll have to wait a lot longer for Avowed, a fantasy first-person RPG, set in the universe made famous by the Pillars of Eternity series and developed by Obsidian.
There have been credible reports suggesting that on Avowed, the upcoming RPG from Obsidian, will be released later than expected. They come from a highly reputable insider known as Klobrille, who stated categorically that according to his sources there is no chance that Avowed will be released in the first half of next year.
Obsidian has so far not given a planned release date for the game, so it's not a delay per se. For the time being, the released footage from the project is quite modest, and if the game was really going to be released in the next six months, we would be seeing more with fresh videos. Avowed would undoubtedly also have appeared at the recent The Game Awards. Reports that there is still plenty of time left before the release are therefore not surprising.
Recall that the game is heading for PC and Xbox Series X/S Avowed is expected to be Obsidian Entertainment's most ambitious project to date. Thanks to money from Microsoft (the team was acquired by the company several years ago) the studio was able to hire many new employees, and this is to be clearly seen in the quality of execution and scope of the game. Therefore, the long development cycle is not a special surprise.
