Ashes of the Singularity hits Steam Early Access today

Ashes of the Singularity alpha build will be available in Steam Early Access later today. Initially, this next sci-fi RTS from the creators of Galactic Civilizations will offer a couple of battlegrounds, as well as single player and multiplayer modes.

Grand scale real-time strategy Ashes of the Singularity is coming to Steam Early Access later today, probably at 10 AM PDT. When it does, it will be available for $39.99, 20% off the original price, at least for a period of time. The alpha build of Stardock Systems’ sci-fi PC RTS will offer 3 middle-sized plants to fight for in both single player (skirmish mode) and 1v1 multiplayer.

What makes Ashes of the Singularity stand out from the crowd, is the technology used in the game. This will be the first native 64-bit RTS and the first on to support DirectX 12. The title runs on an advanced 3D engine called Nitrous that makes a fine use of multi-core processors. As a result, the game is able to boast massive battles waged over the surfaces of entire planets with thousands of individual units engaged in combat.

Ashes of the Singularity can boast massive battles with thousands of units.

The game’s main focus will be put on multiplayer, however, those who prefer playing alone should be satisfied too. Ashes of the Singularity is going to feature asynchronous multi-core real-time AI, so that commanding thousands of units will be easier and more meaningful. More information on the technology and how the game plays, as well as its system requirements, can be found in the FAQ on the official website.
