Apex Legends Devs Aim at 120 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X

The developers of the popular battle royale game Apex Legends have not ruled out that their work will offer 120 fps on next-gen consoles in the near future.

A week ago, the 8th season of the popular battle royale game Apex Legends began. On this occasion, four days ago, the developers organized a Q&A session on Reddit. One of the questions asked was about the update that would enable us to play Respawn Entertainment's game in 120 fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X platforms. The answer was given by Steve Ferreira, director of the studio's Vancouver branch. He noted that the developers are constantly working on improving the gameplay experience, as this is one of the key issues for them. The developer did not promise anything, but stressed that adding a 120 FPS mode is high on their priority list.

The last change the developers made for next-gen consoles was to increase the resolution from 1080p to 1440p. However, it was not a breakthrough, even in the category of battle royale games. The most popular representative of this genre, Fortnite, introduced the 120 fps update for owners of PS5 and Xbox Series X back in December.

Meanwhile, Respawn faces another, bigger challenge. In exactly one month, on March 9, Apex Legends will debut on the Nintendo Switch console. It is not excluded that after the release the studio will deal with the expected support for even smoother gameplay on next-gen consoles.
