Greedy Electronic Arts Got Into Gamers' Black Books. After 21 Seasons, Company Decided to Go After Apex Legends Players' Money
As of the 22nd season, the battle pass in Apex Legends will no longer be purchased with the game's internal currency. This change was met with much dissatisfaction by players.
The developers of Apex Legends have revealed the first details about the new features coming to the game in the 22nd season. Today's announcement focused on the battle pass, which will be getting a major refresh. Unfortunately, fans didn't like the changes and were met with considerable criticism.
New battle passes
From the next season, instead of one battle pass, two will be available. As a result, the number of levels will be reduced from 110 to 60. Surprisingly, this won't be accompanied by the rewards, of which there will be over twice as many to be gained as before. You will find the full list below.
In all of this, the price is the most important. The previous price was set in the game's internal currency, but starting from the 22nd season, the new passes will cost $9.99 (premium) and $19.99(premium+). This means that Apex Coins obtained within one pass will not allow for the purchase of another, forcing players to reach into their wallets. As you can easily guess, this change was met with great dissatisfaction.
Wait, we can't use the Apex coins from the last season to buy the new season pass? That's awful.
Do you want to kill the game? Cuz this is how you kill the game.
Not being able to purchase it with coins is surely a great way to please the players.
What is behind this - according to the company - "difficult decision"? It's not too hard to guess. Paying twice for a pass during one season will certainly further fill the wallets of Electronic Arts. It's just a shame that this comes at the expense of discouraging the community from playing the game. Although this company is probably already used to it.
