Apparently, a new DLC for Age of Empires 2 is coming. Microsoft's store leaked the DLC's page, revealing with its title, description and price.
Update
The Mountain Royals for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition has been officially announced and the information provided below has been confirmed. The expansion will debut on October 31 on PC and Xbox consoles. More details can be found here.
Original news (October 12)
It looks like a new expansion for the popular strategy game Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition will be released soon. Fans of the RTS have noticed that Microsoft Store published product card for a DLC called The Mountain Royals. It has already been removed, but the gamers managed to extract details about it.
The expansion is priced at $14.99. The last major expansion for Age of Empires II, was Return of Rome. Despite the fact that the price was revealed for The Mountain Royals, no release date has been announced.
According to fans on the Age of Empires forum, the DLC is expected to introduce two new civilizations to the game.
- Armenians inhabit the mountainous areas near Lakes Van, Sevan and Urmia. They have at their disposal such units as archers and warrior priests, as well as regular infantry.
- Georgians have a kingdom in the shadow of the Caucasus Mountains. Their special unit is called Monaspa, whose strength lies in the number of soldiers.
Along with The Mountain Royals players will supposedly also receive three new campaigns.
- Tamar's Ascension - tells the story of young Tamar, who, as Georgia's first queen, must defeat skeptics and leave a mark on history with her achievements.
- Thoros The Great - The prince of Armenia, Thoros, flees his homeland so that he can later liberate it. In addition to the Byzantines, he is threatened by the Seljuk Turks, who covet territories belonging to Armenia.
- Ismail - The final campaign deals with an orphan named Ismail, who leads the Safavids through war-torn Persia.
Also preserved from the DLC's page are screenshots, which so far have not been removed by the developers. It is very possible that since the DLC appeared on Microsoft store for a moment by mistake, it will be officially announced soon. If this happens, we will most likely see a trailer, and perhaps we will also learn additional information, with the release date expected at the top of the list.
Since there is currently no page for this DLC, all the above details about The Mountain Royals should be treated as a leak. Indeed, it is not excluded that such an DLC will not be released at all, or will have a different title or price.
