IN A NUTSHELL
- Age of Empires 2 is now available with a new expansion titled Dawn of the Dukes;
- The expansion introduces two playable nations - the Poles and the Bohemians;
- The owners of the expansion can play three new campaigns;
Despite the fact that Age of Empires IV is already looming on the horizon, we still remember of teh older installments. Proof of this is yesterday's release of the new expansion for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. Dawn of the Dukes, as this is the name of the DLC, introduces Kingdom of Poland and Bohemia as playable civilizations, as well as three new campaigns.
Poles have received their own campaign, which presents the fate of Queen Jadwiga (or Hedwig) of Poland. The civilization focuses on a strong cavalry, which can be improved through such technologies as Szlachta Privileges and Lechitic Legacy. Of course we can lead Hussars into the battle, however, it is not a unique unit for Poland (also Lithuania has it). The civilization received an exclusive infantry unit with a hammer (Obuch), suitable for fighting armored opponents.
Bohemians, in turn, focus on shooting units. In their ranks we can see the Hussite Wagon (a medieval tank) and improved guns. The Bohemian campaign presents the fate of Jan Žižka, who was a leader during the Hussite Wars.
The expansion also introduces a campaign in which we can lead Lithuanian forces into battle. Following the fate of the brothers Algirdas and Kestutis, sons of Gedyminas, we will fight against the Teutonic Order and face the Golden Horde.
