Ace Combat 7 Becomes Second Biggest Bestseller of the Series

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown has already sold 2.5 million copies, making the game the second biggest sales success in the history of the franchise. The first place is still held by Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies from PS2.

Project Aces has reasons to be happy. The studio's owner Bandai Namco Entertainment boasted that the sales of the arcade flight simulator Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown exceeded 2.5 million copies. This makes the game the second biggest bestseller of the series. The leader remains Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, released in 2001 on PlayStation 2.

The fourth installment of the series, however, should soon lose the leader position. During the first seven years since the launch, 2.64 million copies of the game were sold. AC7 is selling at a much faster rate and should soon overtake the PS2 classic.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown debuted on January 18, 2019 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. Two weeks later, the game also hit PC. The game met with a warm reception. On Metacritic, the average rating of the PS4 release is 80%.

The PC version debuted in a rather deplorable technical condition, but patches corrected the most important shortcomings. Currently 84% of user reviews on Steam are positive.
