AC: Invictus Like Fall Guys? Rumors Suggest What a Multiplayer Assassin's Creed Could Be
Assassin's Creed: Invictus is set to be a multiplayer game, and recent reports indicate an alleged and rather unexpected inspiration for Ubisoft.
Fall Guys is allegedly an inspiration for the multiplayer installment of the Assassin’s Creed series. This news was revealed by French YouTuber j0nathan (via VGT on X), who enjoys a considerable reputation among fans of the Assassin series thanks to previous verified information. The information about the enigmatic Ubisoft project known as Assassin’s Creed: Invictus was shared by him.
AC: Fall Guys
We've known officially for a long time that one of the new installments in the AC series is a multiplayer game. However, it wasn't clear what form it would take. Some players were betting on a return to the abandoned competitive multiplayer from older installments (absent since Black Flag), which was essentially a game of hide-and-seek.
However, j0nathan's sources seem to indicate something slightly different. Team deathmatch and free-for-all modes are set to return in Invictus, but not in their classic form – or at least not only in their classic form.
The game will rely on matches with various gameplay modes and the progressive elimination of players (currently: up to 16) who couldn't meet the challenge. The game will even include a "speed" mode, which is a kind of race where players have to reach a designated goal. It's no wonder that the YouTuber made associations with Fall Guys.
He also verified that there will be maps (or parts of them) and characters from previous releases, serving as arenas and player avatars, including Ezio and Pompeii - the latter will gradually include a lava-covered board. j0nathan also hinted that between rounds, players will be able to choose different powers that they will combine and use in the final round.
AC multiplayer? Yes, but in the old way
The information from the YouTuber hasn't been confirmed yet and should be approached with caution. For now, fans have quite mixed feelings about these reports, although negative opinions seem to prevail.
Of course, many people express dissatisfaction with the coupon clipping of the Assassin's Creed series, but some gamers would be eager to experience a multiplayer AC in the battle royale genre. As long as it is a variation on the theme of the old, unique multiplayer Assassin’s Creed from Brotherhood, and not an imitation of another popular game.
If Invictus is just another variation on the theme of Fall Guys, then - according to some players - Ubisoft may end up with its own Concord. Some fans even advise that the company "pull the plug" before the project sees the light of day.
