PSN account will no longer be required on PC. However, Sony is offering variety of „extras” to encourage players to use it
Sony is removing the requirement for a PlayStation Network account on PC but encouraging players to sign up for one at the same time. In return, they will receive additional bonuses in the Japanese giant's titles, such as Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which releases today.

Sony is trying hard to convince "PC gamers" to use a PlayStation Network account, which has been necessary to play PS5 title conversions. For this purpose, the Japanese giant announced additional bonuses in several of its games released for personal computers. These titles are: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, God of War: Ragnarok, The Last of Us: Part II Remastered, and Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered.
Linking a PS Network account in these entries will become optional (the requirement to have an account met with strong opposition from the community). What "goodies" will we be able to get if we decide to do it after all?
- Marvel's Spider-Man 2 - early access to Spider-Man 2099 and Miles Morales 2099 costumes.
- God of War: Ragnarok - Black Bear set for Kratos to be found in the resource chest in the World Between Worlds. Moreover, you can get 250 XP and 500 pieces of silver
- The Last of Us: Part II Remastered - extra 50 points to allocate. Besides this, Ellie will receive a Jordan jacket skin, which belongs to the character from the recently revealed Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
- Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered - players will receive the Nora Valiant outfit, which is rare in the game.
Furthermore, work is underway on further benefits for people who decide to create a PSN account. It's unknown whether this will also be the case for other PlayStation Studios titles on PC (such as Helldivers 2).
It's worth noting that two of the games mentioned above will only be released on PC this year. The Last of Us: Part II Remastered will be available for PC owners on April 2, 2025, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games will be available today.
