A lucky player finds a PS4 for just 5 dollars at a second-hand store, takes it home, and has his very first PlayStation
I guess some people are just born with good karma on their side. I bet this story will inspire you all to check out thrift stores in your area.

Oh, to be fortunate enough to rummage through a junk shop's collection of old, unwanted treasures and stumble upon a retro console priced far lower than it’s worth, that’s the dream. I’d be lying if I said I don’t spend my spare time doing exactly that! But I’ve never been lucky enough to discover one, let alone a relatively modern device with such a ridiculously low price like this gentleman.
A working PS4 for under $5
Reddit user narfnermods shared an incredible discovery on the PlayStation subreddit: a PlayStation 4 he found in a thrift store for just $4.99. He nearly overlooked it, as it was tucked away between small kitchen appliances, but the PS4 logo caught his eye.
Typically, a slim PS4 1TB with at least one controller and a power cable would cost you a minimum of $200. While this offer only included the console itself, it was still an incredible deal, if only it had worked.
Here’s what happened next:
- He took a gamble, bought it, and went home. He already had the necessary cables to test it and was able to borrow a controller from a friend.
- He hooked it up to the TV and was amazed to find that the console worked perfectly, with 600 GB of free storage.
- It was an incredible stroke of luck, especially since his son had been hoping for a PS5 for Christmas to play Spider-Man. Now, all that’s left to do is format the console and pick up some used gamepads and games.
This reminds me of the time I found a PS3 just lying on the street. I brought it home, but since I already had a PS4 by then, it’s just been gathering dust ever since. I wonder if it even works or if it’s filled with dead roaches. Too scared to check, though.
