40% of New Xbox Users Chose Series S
Microsoft has shared data that say that over 40% of new Xbox users have chosen Xbox Series S.
Xbox Series X is a device for players who demand as much as possible of their console - 4K, ray tracing and 60 or more frames per second. What about those who are just beginning their adventure with Microsoft consoles? Well, the answer may seem surprising, as the Redmond giant claims that over 40% of new Xbox users have chosen Xbox Series S.
In the post on the official Xbox blog we can read that among people who have never had a Microsoft console before, more than 40% have chosen Xbox Series S. This does not mean, of course, that almost half of next-gen Xboxes that were sold are the smaller and cheaper brothers of Xbox Series X. However, this is quite a good illustration of the fact that people who have not previously had contact with the brand are willing to use the cheaper option. It also seems that a large proportion of such players are people who are just beginning their adventure with consoles in general or use them to occasionally play titles they like - alone or with friends. To this should also be added players who do not want to be limited to a single platform, and thanks to the lower price they can buy a competitive product, even if they already have other main gaming device.
The position of Xbox Series S on the market seems to be quite clear. Its task is not to compete with Sony's PlayStation 5, but to attract new users to the Xbox brand. What's more, with a price very close to that of Nintendo Switch, Microsoft can also fight for a slice of the cake in this category. Until the launch of Xbox Series S, someone who wanted to equip themselves or their child with a console that would cost less then $300 had a choice of basically only Switches, or devices from older generations, which will soon become out of date. So it seems that Microsoft has filled a gap in the market quite efficiently and reached new customers, and a strong and well-developed Game Pass service can only help in further expansion.
