The creator of the title is Matrix Games, a company specializing in strategy games, which has held the rights to the brand since 2007. The plot of this part focuses on the famous British offensive in 1944 on Caen, occupied by German armored divisions.

Developed by the Canadian studio Clapfoot, the game casts the players in the roles of regular soldiers fighting for one of two factions. The experience was inspired by battles fought during both World Wars.
