Men of War: Assault Squad 2 PC

Men of War: Assault Squad 2 for PC brings a continuation to the second, stand-alone expansion pack for Men of War – a real-time strategy set during the Second World War. Assault Squad 2 was created by two studios behind production of the previous Men of War games – Best Way (Soldiers, Faces of War) and Digitalmindsoft (Men of War: Assault Squad, Call to Arms).

Plot & Mechanics

The game is set during the Second World War and the action takes place in different regions of eastern Europe, but also in northern Africa and islands of the Pacific. The player chooses from among five countries, such as the USA or the Soviet Union and participates in battles included in the singleplayer campaign and those played in the multiplayer mode. While the singleplayer mode focuses mainly on skirmish-like missions, the online component was adequately expanded. The players can meet in 1 vs 1, 2 vs 2 and 4 vs 4 battles, as well as in huge encounters involving sixteen players (8 vs 8).

Similar to the previous installments, Men of War: Assault Squad 2 for PC places a special emphasis on realism; the player is required to remain focused and adapt to various situations quickly, applying different tactics. The game requires the player to be careful when giving orders to units, for treating them as cannon fodder is one thing the player definitely cannot afford here. In order to raise the difficulty bar, the creators improved the AI of the virtual opponents, making encounters with computer-controlled forces more demanding. All of this is accompanied by changes introduced concerning the improved interface or unit's equipment menus.

Technical aspects

Men of War: Assault Squad 2 for PC utilizes the significantly improved GEM 2 engine. Old models were replaced with new ones, textures have better resolution now and new graphic effects were added. Furthermore, Men of War: Assault Squad 2 can utilize multi-core processors, which adds to the game's overall performance. Also, Assault Squad 2 supports modern-day technologies, such as Shader Model.
