World of Final Fantasy Maxima is an improved version of World of Final Fantasy, a spin-off of the age-old jRPG series released in 2016 on PlayStation 4, PC and PlayStation Vita. The production enriches the gameplay of the original title with a special Avatar system. Square-Enix, a well-known company that has been consistently developing Final Fantasy series for many years, is responsible for its creation.

Plot

World of Final Fantasy Maxima takes place in Grymoire - a magical world where you can find many creatures and heroes known from other Final Fantasy games. The main characters in the story are the twins Rain and Lon, who wield the extraordinary power to catch and control various monsters inhabiting the land. The siblings suffer from amnesia and embark on a journey to regain their memories.

Mechanics

In terms of gameplay, World of Final Fantasy Maxima resembles older games from the series. Here you will find an exploration of a large world aw well as a turn-based combat system using the ATB (Active Time Battle) mechanic, which regulates the order of attack of individual characters. It is very important to catch and tame various creatures. During the fights, we have the possibility to place them on top of each other - the "towers" built in this way allow us to launch special attacks. Their strength and features depend on which creatures we have used, their number and arrangement.

It is also worth mentioning that the world of Grymoire is composed of two dimensions - in one of them the heroes look normal, while in the other they have a childish form (so-called "chibi"). Moving between these two planes also affects the statistics and abilities of individual creatures.

The Avatar system is a new feature, absent in the original World of Final Fantasy - it allows you to turn into one of the classic Final Fantasy characters like Cloud (FFVII), Yuna (FFX and FFX-2), Lightning (FFXIII, FFXIII-2, Lightning Returns: FFXIII) or Noctis (FFXV).

Game modes

World of Final Fantasy Maxima features only a single player mode.

Technical aspects

World of Final Fantasy Maxima has an interesting three-dimensional graphic design. The manga art style used here is full of colors and funny character designs. The game is clearly aimed at younger users, but it can also be enjoyed by older players.
