Windblown Description
Windblown is an action game with RPG and roguelike elements. It was developed by Motion Twin, an indie studio known for the critically acclaimed Dead Cells.
Plot
Windblown is set in a fantasy world, the center of which is a gigantic, deadly vortex. One of the islands orbiting it is the Ark, a refuge for anthropomorphic animals. Its days may be numbered, as the Vortex prepares to devour the island. Not all is yet lost, however, as the playable characters, the Leapers, set out to save their home.
Mechanics
Windblown makes use of the top-down perspective. The player must move between islands, cutting down enemy hordes using melee weapons and various abilities. The game's pace is extremely high, both during exploration and combat. The player must stay moving, avoid enemy attacks, counter them and switch between different weapons to adapt to the situation at hand. Aside from regular enemies, we'll also face powerful bosses.
The game is difficult and death is permanent. Nevertheless, over time we gain better equipment and unlock new abilities, while subsequent heroes retain some of their predecessors' memories. This means each run we're stronger than before.
Game modes
Windblown supports singleplayer and online co-op.
Technical aspects
Windblown makes use of colorful, cartoonish visuals.
