A Stroke of Fate
Undercover Missions: Operation Kursk K-141 is a traditional third-person point-and-click adventure in the spy thriller convention. The title, released on PC, was developed by The Game Species studio.
Plot
The action of the game is set largely onboard the titular submarine Kursk K-141 - a legendary Russian nuclear-powered unit, which after six years of service sank in mysterious circumstances (officially due to the explosion probably caused by the release of hydrogen peroxide). We play the role of a secret agent named Belyaeva, who is responsible for detecting and capturing the leader of a criminal organization stealing Russian weapons systems. When her partner, working under the cover in the submarine, disappears without a trace, the protagonist must board Kursk and obtain the necessary evidence before the unit is buried on the ocean floor.
Mechanics
Undercover Missions: Operation Kursk K-141 is a classic adventure game with a point-and-click interface. Players explore new locations, interact with different characters and collect items necessary to solve new puzzles. The game is divided into nine chapters, during which we visit nearly 50 locations - from urban areas to the Kursk submarine rooms based on the real vessel's plans. Additionally, during the game, we can play a dozen mini-games with logical and arcade elements, which test our skills and detective sense.
Technical aspects
Undercover Missions: Operation Kursk K-141 features an average 2.5D graphic design, maintained in the spirit of classic adventures from the early 21st century. The game is presented from the third-person perspective. We don't have full freedom of movement - instead, we move along pre-established paths. The authors also took care of good audio and full voice acting available in three languages.
