The second installment of the legendary Ultima series was developed because of the increasing popularity of cRPG genre. The storyline continues the motives from the first Ultima where the players had to face Mondain the warlock. The triumph of good didn’t last long as Mondain had an apprentice called Miniax. She was a young, cold-hearted woman whose ambition grew along with the thirst for blood. Entire legions of hellish monsters answered to her call, unleashing hell upon the peaceful citizens of Sosaria.
We are summoned by Lord Brittish for a second time to help fight the forces of evil. Our task is to defeat the army of Miniax and the woman herself. The game offers a slightly bigger area to explore, but the mechanics remain the same. The protagonist traverses dungeons and labyrinths, killing the creatures living within. Compared to the first Ultima, there isn’t much quality improvement to be found as Ultima II still has poor CGA graphics.
