Trepang2

Trepang2 is a first-person shooter and a spiritual successor to F.E.A.R.: First Encounter Assault REcon. In contrast of what the number in the title may suggest, it's the first installment of the franchise. It's the debut game of Trepang Studios.

Plot

The playable character is a soldier freed from a cell in a secret research facility. Though he's lost all his memories, he discovers newly-acquired superhuman combat abilities within himself. Using them, he tries to escape the facility, regain the memories of his past and learn what really happened.

Mechanics

Trepang2 is a fast-paced FPS with a complex combat system. The player has access to a wide roster of powerful firearms and grenades. During battle, the player can use the temporary time slowdown mechanic to gain an edge over the enemies.

The player character's also rather handy in melee combat. He can hit enemies with the butt of his gun, punch them, kick them and slide into them. Kicking from a great height lets him bounce off enemies, while sliding lets him overcome some obstacles. These maneuvers can be combined with gunshots. Enemies can also be grabbed and used as human shields.

The combat system is made more in-depth by the enemies' complex AI. AI-controlled units efficiently navigate the environment and can cooperate effectively.

Stealth plays a significant part in the game as well. The player can hide in the shadows and briefly turn invincible.

Game modes

Trepang2 only supports singleplayer.

Technical aspects

Trepang2 features appealing 3D visuals and runs on the Unreal Engine 4.
