Trapt is an action game enriched with strategy game elements developed by the Japanese company Tecmo (now Tecmo Koei).

Story

In Trapt we take on the role of Princess Allura, who was accused by her stepmother of murdering her father, King Olaf. The Queen sentences the protagonist to death, but the girl manages to escape with the help of her friend Rachel. However, the killers hired by the ruler are constantly following the heroin, so Allura must defend herself against them at all costs in order to escape with her life. Depending on our actions, the story will reach one of the three endings.

Mechanics

The action in Trapt is observed from TPP. The game was divided into missions taking place in the chambers of the royal estate, during which our task is to take care of Allura's safety. Our protege is unable to fight our opponents directly - however, the girl copes with the danger by placing traps in strategic places. Traps can be installed on walls, floors and ceilings. Although their range is initially limited, over time it expands with new items, which we buy in exchange for the so called "Warl", i.e. the local currency; the arsenal is complemented by special ambushes baptized as "Dark Illusions" - they can only be used once during each level and under strict conditions. In addition to the main tasks, there are also optional missions to complete, enabling us to learn about side storyline threads.

Technical aspects

Trapt features 3D graphics adopting manga style, which presents a decent level of work, characteristic of many Japanese games from that period.
