Train Sim World 4 is the fourth main installment in a series of train simulators originating from 2017. It was developed by Dovetail Games.
Mechanics
Train Sim World 4 faithfully recreates the physics and parameters of individual trains. We'll spend most of our time in the driver's cabin, having access to all its functions. Since mastering it all is no easy task, the game features several difficulty levels. It also features a special training center, where we can learn the basics of driving diesel, steam and electric trains.
There are numerous scenarios to play through and different timetables to abide by.There's also a free drive mode, in which we can choose any train and route, as well as a scenario creator, letting us share our scenarios with other players. Trains can be customized with an advanced color creator. Our work can then be immortalized through photo mode.
In addition to routes and trains known from the previous installments, the game introduces some new things as well. The new routes include the East Coast Main Line from Peterborough to Doncaster, Antelope Valley Line from Los Angeles to Lancaster, and S-Bahn Vorarlberg from Lindau to Bludenz. There are also new trains - LNER BR Class 801, Metrolink F125, ÖBB 4024 and LNER Class A3 60103 Flying Scotsman.
Technical aspects
Train Sim World 4 runs on the Unreal Engine 4 and makes use of the proprietary SimuGraph tech to simulate trains dynamic. The game features high-quality visuals; though the detailed trains are the most appealing, the routes and surroundings are nothing to sneeze at either.
