A sim game in which we sit behind the helm of a Japanese railroad and travel along two scenic routes in Kyoto. Game Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto was made in FMV technique - a model of a railroad and an interface were superimposed on recorded video material.

Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto is a train driving simulation game. It was developed by Sonic Powered.
Game mechanics
In Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto we play the role of a driver who operates popular, especially among tourists, electric trains of the Eizan Electric Railway line operating in Kyoto. As a driver of the Kirara Observation Train and the Hiei Scenic Train, we travel along the Eizan Main Line and the Kurama Line and admire their scenic attractions, including the Maple Tunnel. Game lets us choose the time of day, and while on the road we can freely slow down and speed up; the latter allows us to adjust the speed to our preference, so that we can look around the beautiful surroundings without unnecessary haste. We can find out what is worth our attention by reading the guidebook integrated into the game.
Technical aspects
Japanese Rail Sim: Journey to Kyoto includes a full FMV recording of both routes. The high quality video is overlaid with a model of the railroad and the interface.
