Toy Story Racer is a racing game developed by Traveller's Tales and based on the license of the popular animated movie Toy Story. The game was released by Activision on PS1.

Mechanics

In Toy Story Racer we participate in races on eighteen different routes. The list of tracks (inspired by the locations from the film) includes Andy's house, shopping center, underground parking, cinema, and basketball court. The title offers twelve characters from the original film, including Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Rex, Slinky Dog, or Rocky Gibraltar. While four of them are available from the very beginning, the remaining eight are unlocked by collecting soldiers scattered along the routes.

The game features a dozen or so variants of races - apart from classic competitions, where our task is to cross the finish line in the first position (Single Race, Reverse Race, Race Cup Tournament), there is a place for time trials (Time Trial Laps), races in which after each lap the competitor on the last place is removed (Knockout Race), championships involving the elimination of opponents (Smash Challenge) or even challenges reminiscent of playing tag (Tag Races). The use of power-ups hidden in four-colored boxes helps to achieve victory; among them there are mainly weapons (like rockets and electromagnetic impulses), although from time to time we may come across, for example, a nitro.

Game modes

Toy Story Racer enables us to play solo or in the company of a second player (on split-screen).

Technical aspects

Toy Story Racer features three-dimensional visuals in a style reminiscent of the film original.
