This War of Mine: Forget Celebrations

After a years-long hiatus, Polish studio 11 bit has returned to its survival game This War of Mine, releasing the story-driven expansion Forget Celebrations in time for the 10th anniversary of its premiere. The title of this DLC was given a bittersweet tone. Regardless of the game's success, it is supposed to draw attention to the fact that armed conflicts are still raging in the world, in which civilians suffer. The creators plan to donate all proceeds from sales to charity, supporting the organizations Amnesty International, Liberty Ukraine and War Child, as well as the Indie Games Poland Foundation.

Story in Forget Celebrations

The heroine of This War of Mine: Forget Celebrations is Katia, a resident of the besieged city of Pogoren, known for the base game. We meet her again as an experienced war correspondent who is writing a book about the fate of innocent people caught up in military actions.

We take control over her when her house is destroyed in a missile attack. Katia gets seriously injured, but despite this, she intends to obtain the last materials needed to finish the book. We are helping her in this venture, waiting for the rescue team sent by the publisher of her work.

Gameplay in This War of Mine

Just like in the basic version of This War of Mine, in Forget Celebrations we participate in the struggle for survival, constantly facing the necessity of making morally difficult decisions. During the day, we stay in the hideout, improving it and taking care of the people living there. At night, when the fighting ceases, we venture out onto the dangerous streets to rummage through various dwellings in search of invaluable resources (such as food or medicine), and we encounter other survivors, with whom we often have conflicting interests. The DLC introduces special items not available in the base game.
