The Well for PC is an RPG dedicated to Samsung Gear VR virtual reality headset. An internal studio of Turtle Rock, which focuses on this kind of titles, developed the game – the studio is responsible for other VR games such as Otherworlds or Face Your Fears.
Plot
The player assumes the role of a defender of Tholl – an idyllic village attacked by a race of space invaders known as the Thesh. The sudden invasion disturbs the fragile peace, destabilizing the whole region and engulfing it in total chaos. As a result, the Mysterious Oracle is forced to choose a hero whose mission will be to restore the balance and discover the secrets of the invaders themselves, as well as those of the inconspicuous village.
Mechanics
In essence, the game is a typical RPG. At the beginning, the player chooses a class – we can choose a warrior, mage, rouge, or a druid. Each class offers unique abilities and spells. As the game progresses, we face more and more difficult challenges, explore new worlds, solve puzzles, and take care of powerful opponents during turn-based encounters. Successful progression nets experience points and treasure that can be spent on our hero, improving his abilities and equipment. Interestingly enough, other characters can join our party.
Technical Aspects
The Well for PC is characteristic for its colorful graphics inspired by drawings seen on the covers of fables and legends. The world seems to be engulfed in fog, creating a nightmarish atmosphere. The visited regions (including forested jungles, destroyed ruins, or haunted swamps) offer a varied design and atmosphere.
