The Great Battles of Caesar Description
The third war game from the famous series The Great Battles based on excellent board games. This time we play nine historic battles under the command of Roman Emperor Julius Caesar. We have such battlefields as Vercellae, Chaeronea, Bibracte, Sabis, Dyrrachium, Pharsalus, Ruspina, Thapus and Munda, where Roman troops fought against Germans, Gallas and Britain, conquering new territories and enlarging the Roman Empire. We must also oppose Pompey's troops, who wanting to take over the Roman throne provokes a bloody civil war.
We can play the whole campaign by playing the Romans, or a single battle by choosing any side of the conflict. As Caesar we must stop Pompey's troops, or as Pompey, together with his supporters, find a way to defeat Caesar's troops.
The game has been significantly modified in comparison with the previous titles of this series. The units are no longer automatically set at the beginning of the scenario. Now we can freely set up our troops, which are grouped into legions. The tactical settings of the units have been changed so that they reflect the actions of the Roman troops more realistically. Fortification and siege tactics were added, as well as new units such as Roman cohorts, Numidian archers and Germanic barbaric cavalry. The game also has a multiplayer mode that allows you to play two people on the LAN or on the Internet.
