Gold Road is the sixth major DLC (chapter) for the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online by ZeniMax Online. It's set in the western part of Cyrodill, known from 2006's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Plot
Chaos reigns in the West Weald, a province led by Count Colonius, a Colovian allied with the Imperial forces occupying Cyrodiil. Recent events have changed the landscape, revealing approaching danger. A tropical jungle, the Dawnwood, is spreading across the land, taking the Count's territory. Even then, that's not the greatest problem Tamriel's facing. Hermaeus Mora's secret first discovered in Necrom - Ithelia, a forgotten daedric deity - has returned and may soon regain her full power.
Mechanics
The expansion introduces a new area, the West Weald, and its capital of Skingrad. We'll find well-preserved Colovian and Ayelid (elven) ruins, as well as the Dawnwood jungle and the Wood Elf settlement - Vashabar.
Gold Road introduces a new gameplay mechanic letting us customize our playstyle - Scribing. After unlocking this system, we can start collecting Grimoires, widely customizable new abilities. Each Grimoire has three Scripts to choose from which change how it works; they can also be upgraded using soul gems.
The expansion also adds a new 12-player raid - the Lucent Citadel, new quests, bosses, dungeons, antiques, sets and collectible items. There's a new kind of customization available, Skill Styling, which lets players change the colors of their spells.
Technical aspects
The expansion is not standalone and requires the base game. Though its plot continues that of Necrom, you don't need to complete it or even own it to play this one.
